saturday nite with… LYKKE LI

For the past two years or so, Swedish songstress Lykke Li has been a mainstay of every electro music blog around the world. Ever since the release of her debut album, Youth Novels, Li’s sweet and sour compositions have been a constant source of inspiration for producers and DJs, with new remixes popping up every second day…

The album itself is pretty eclectic and features a rather wide range of beats. Produced by Björn Yttling (of Peter Bjorn and John) and Lasse Mårtén, Youth Novels draws on the more subtle aspects of indie pop and dance music to create a sound that is mostly poppy, with an electronic twist. Lykke Li’s quirky personality shines through the fourteen tracks of the album. Definitely a winning debut!

As said before, Li’s songs have been revisited by some of the best DJs and producers (Fred Falke, Villains,  CSS, Death To The Throne, Metronomy) and here is a handpicked selection of remixes for your aural pleasure…

Lykke Li – Breaking It Up (Punks Jump Up Remix)

Lykke Li – Dance Dance Dance (Grandtheft Remix)

Likke Li – Little Bit (Gigamesh Remix)

The Gigamesh remix is sick, although there isn’t too much of a difference… just some bass and whatnot strategically placed to make it sound more awesome.

  2. Leu' Derbedeu' says:

Björn Yttling is definitely a good producer, and did a sweet job on her album as well.
