Already supported by Rory Phillips, Gloves, Shinichi Osawa, Treasure Fingers, The Magician, Justin Faust, VillA or Gigamesh, the new 12″ from Portuguese disco act Mirror People  has garnered rave reviews across the board. Released via Discotexas, “Feel The Need” features diva vocals by Rowetta and the download bundle includes remixes from the likes of Moullinex, Munk, Social Disco Club and Severino.

Rui Maia, the ‘hands’ behind the Mirror People, is a Porto-born producer who is equally inspired by the sounds of Joy Division, David Bowie, Air and Stereolab. After collaborating with X-Wife on their debut record, where Rui played synthesizers and electronics, he decided to develop his DJ & studio production skills.

In 2010, influenced by Italians Do It Better and DFA, Rui formed his latest project – Mirror People. More disco-house oriented than his previous efforts, Mirror People has released EPs on labels such as Permanent Vacation, Brilliantine or Raw Cutz Records.

Aeroplane, Cosmic Kids and Modular label-mates Cut Copy, have all turned their hands to reworking The Rapture‘s latest single “Sail Away”, the anthemic opener to their album In The Grace Of Your Love. Florence-born London-based dance producer Daniele Pianigiani, better known as Seya (or 5eya), took his first steps on the English club scene as the DJ partner to fellow Italian expat (and former flatmate) Phonat. Now fully emancipated, Seya is set on making a name for himself with his own brand of bumping disco-infused house.

The young artist’s latest EP, Float, was released last November on La Bombe, including two brand new original tracks already supported by Radio 1 bigwigs like Kissy Sell Out and Malente and Turbo Recordings’ Matt Walsh. “Float” is a smooth electro number that slowly builds up into a funky as hell party starter. “Backlight” is more straightforward, with its funky bassline and catchy sample-based melody.

UK-based duo Just Kiddin have only been around for a little over a year but their originals and remixes have already featured on just about every decent music blog. On the heels of their 2011 debut EP, Seriously Part One, the boys recently released the second act, Seriously Part Two, via Top Billin Music.

Just like their previous EP, this new release is full of disco-fuelled club bangers, equally influenced by feel-good funk and French house. These guys smash genres together, sprinkle the whole thing with clean beats and come up with a sound that will please connoisseurs and casual clubbers alike.

Between recording sessions and DJ sets, Just Kiddin also find time to produce cool remixes for other artists (Steed Lord, Icebird, Nicola Roberts). If you like what you hear, here are a few more tracks for your aural pleasure.

The Saint Petersburg Disco Spin Club is getting ready to release a brand new single called “Love Spin” and for the occasion the Saint-Petersburg-based DJ/producer asked his friends Vladovskie to make a cool video for the song.

“Love Spin” is a mellow electronica piece with a delicate jazzy swing, just what you need for a relaxing evening after a stressful day at work… The single should be out soon and it will feature remixes by Volta Cab and Russian Adults.

German-born France-based house producer Fred Falke is probably one of the best known producers amongst regular clubgoers and mainstream radio listeners. Over the past few years, he has churned out anthemic synth-laden remixes for the likes of Little Boots, Likke Li, Metronomy, Burns, Hot Chip, Florrie or Pnau, always demonstrating a particular ability to balance the energy of dance music with a strong pop sensibility.

Having released a few acclaimed singles and EPs along the years (some of them with long-time collaborator Alan Braxe), Falke finally rolled out his long-awaited debut LP, Part IV, a few days ago on December 7th via Kris Menace’s label Work It Baby. Consisting of 12 (mostly) instrumental tracks, this euphoric album contains more than a few of Falke’s previously released tunes (“808 PM at the Beach”, “Chicago”), as well as a few new songs, including the blissful eight-minute dance masterpiece “Aurora”…

This album sounds exactly like one would expect, showcasing Fred Falke’s signature sound, a subtle mix of electro-tinged arrangements, filtered synths and addictive melodies, kept in check by throbbing drums. He re-asserts the musicality of the 70s and 80s within the context of modern music, align the modern French sound with the musical heritage that informed it, to bring that sound to a young crowd.

Portugal-born Munich-based electro disco legend Moullinex is back with a new single for the track “Modular Jam”, taken off his recently released Sunflare EP. The original is a fine slice of electro house and the remixes come courtesy of Justin Faust, Worskip, Earl Grey and Say Again.

After a (very) long wait Melbourne-based producer Knightlife, aka Mike Gamwell, is releasing not one, but two new EPs in less a month via Cut Copy’s label Cutters Records. First there was a nice 3-track appetizer featuring lead track, “Serves You Right”, a remix by Emperor Machine and another original track called “Otherway” and now the mothership has come to earth in the form of the 8-track, I Want You EP, which is Knightlife’s most substantial release to date.

Straight out of the City of Angles, Fabian Ordorica is best known in electro circles by his firstname, which is fast becoming synonymous with energy-filled electro goodness. His work first caught the dance community’s ear with his 2009 single “Heatwave”, taken from Binary’s compilation album LA Lights. Since then Fabian has produced tracks across all genres: Hip-Hop, Electro, Pop, French House, Filter House, you name it…

Two years in the making, Fabian’s long-awaited debut album, Say Goodbye, was finally released last month via Binary. Though the album only runs 32 minutes, listening to the whole thing straight will take you through a high octane tour of contemporary dance music: from nu disco to synthpop and everything in between.
