Robosonic aka Cord and Sacha have been building a reputation for producing multidimensional electronic music ever since the release of their highly acclaimed debut album Sturm und Drang in 2007 on their own label Diskomafia.

The duo’s most recent release is the Worst Love EP, a breezy summer-ready record, included two new original tracks and two remixes by Doctor Dru and Fritz Zander. Released on May 9th via OFF Recordings, the EP is already supported by Zombie Disco Squad, Maya Jane Coles, Joyce Muniz, Round Table Knights and many more…

“Punchi Yellow” is another colourful piece – an edit which recalls emotional moments of physical exhaustion after a long DJ set. The edit contains slices of Daft Punk‘s soundtrack for “Tron” and it’s available for free download on Soundcloud.

Berlin-based, Sweden-born DJ, producer and Trunkfunk Records label owner Fredrik Nyberg has long been a key player in Sweden’s music scene. After taking his first steps in Gothenburg’s hiphop scene, he discovered techno and set up his own label in 2000. Trunkfunk quickly became one of Sweden’s most in-demand independent labels, with releases from Stuffa, The Touch, Uniforms, David Ekenbäck and Trevor Loveys.

In 2001 DJ Nibc released his debut single “Deliverance” and in 2003 he was voted Sweden’s Best DJ. Nyberg subsequently teamed up with Carl Rydén, as Tyken, and with Jonas Rathsman, as Stuffa, to explore new musical directions and sounds.

After the success of his 2010 solo release “Hold On”, DJ Nibc continues on his hot streak with his followup hits “The Doorman” and “Call Me”, two sexy deep house jams, with groovy beats and infectious basslines.

The latest addition to German label Sinnbus’ busy roster of talented artists is Berlin-based duo Me And My Drummer. In the past couple of months, Charlotte Brandi (vocals and keys) and Matze Pröllochs (drums) have been sharing stage with Einar Stray, Bodi Bill and Unmap and they are currently putting the finishing touches on their forthcoming debut album at Radio Buellebrueck Studio in Berlin.

On their debut single “You’re A Runner” Charlotte’s voice forms a tender, intimate, immediate alliance with a set of instruments reduced to its core. Almost brutally close, they create an intoxicatingly beautiful piece of drum-driven pop. Stream it above and watch the video on Vimeo.

German-born France-based house producer Fred Falke is probably one of the best known producers amongst regular clubgoers and mainstream radio listeners. Over the past few years, he has churned out anthemic synth-laden remixes for the likes of Little Boots, Likke Li, Metronomy, Burns, Hot Chip, Florrie or Pnau, always demonstrating a particular ability to balance the energy of dance music with a strong pop sensibility.

Having released a few acclaimed singles and EPs along the years (some of them with long-time collaborator Alan Braxe), Falke finally rolled out his long-awaited debut LP, Part IV, a few days ago on December 7th via Kris Menace’s label Work It Baby. Consisting of 12 (mostly) instrumental tracks, this euphoric album contains more than a few of Falke’s previously released tunes (“808 PM at the Beach”, “Chicago”), as well as a few new songs, including the blissful eight-minute dance masterpiece “Aurora”…

This album sounds exactly like one would expect, showcasing Fred Falke’s signature sound, a subtle mix of electro-tinged arrangements, filtered synths and addictive melodies, kept in check by throbbing drums. He re-asserts the musicality of the 70s and 80s within the context of modern music, align the modern French sound with the musical heritage that informed it, to bring that sound to a young crowd.

Portugal-born Munich-based electro disco legend Moullinex is back with a new single for the track “Modular Jam”, taken off his recently released Sunflare EP. The original is a fine slice of electro house and the remixes come courtesy of Justin Faust, Worskip, Earl Grey and Say Again.

German dance duo Digitalism is on fire! Six months after the release of their acclaimed album, I Love You Dude,  the pair set out for a massive North American tour last month and they are launching two remix EPs at the same time. Both releases support their über addictive single “Circles”, which seems to be an unlimited source of inspiration for remixers since we have a solid 5 remixes all in all. The guest list includes Moonlight Matters, Eric Prydz, Jeremy Olander, Dillon Francis, and to top it off Digitalism provide the last remix!

Continue reading »]]> On the heels of her highly praised sophomore album, No Longer At Ease, Nigerian-born Hamburg-based singer Nneka is back with a brand new full-length!

Released on September 27th, Soul Is Heavy is further proof that this talented young lady is an artist to be reckoned with on the R’n'B scene. Hailed by critics as the new Lauryn Hill, Nneka started out in 2005 with her debut album Victim Of Truth, considered by the UK’s Sunday Times as good as the ex-Fugees brilliant solo debut The Miseducation.

The first single off Nneka’s new album already sets the bar pretty high. “My Home” combines reggae-tinged arrangements, a brass-laden hook, an irresistibly bouncy bass line and a clinky piano sample! Four seemingly disparate elements blended together with incredible ease to produce a song that hits you deep and leaves you yearning for more.

Nneka effortlessly plucks from soul, reggae, hip hop and rock, to create a fusion that is bigger than the sum of its parts. Her songs breathe and evolve at their own pace, rarely maintaining a singular theme or beat strain throughout. Soul Is Heavy is a fine example that amongst the autotuned, radio friendly, disposable pop stars, there are still artists who make earnest, creative music with a meaning, and who can sing about politics and social issues as convincingly as love and heartbreak.

Continue reading »]]> Originally from Greystones, a seaside village near Dublin, and now based in Berlin, Mano Le Tough makes disco-influenced house music with an emphasis on melody and emotion. A firm fixture on the Berlin club scene, Mano’s reputation as a DJ developed out of his residency at basement club Kleine Reise, where his eclectic sets of disco, house and bass music garnered labels’ attention.

The Stories EP marks Mano Le Tough’s debut release on Ben Watt‘s label Buzzin’ Fly. Where previous instrumental-based material has appeared on labels such as Dirt Crew and Prins Thomas’ Internasjonal, the Stories EP marks the beginning of a new musical chapter for Mano: the introduction of his own voice and songs.

On “Stories” and “From The Start” rich backdrops are built from drums, loose handclaps, woodblocks and toy percussion, twinkling pianos and rasping synths. It is part edgy, part dreamy. Manos’s voice is unaffected and plain, uncertain but clear. When set against the warm undertow of the beats, the results are heart-snaggingly atmospheric and affecting. The closing instrumental “Take It Back” builds from the same components but peaks with a beautiful unspoken blunted euphoria – a perfect sunrise moment.

Continue reading »]]> After months of teasing us with gorgeous singles and remixes, Apparat is finally releasing The Devil’s Walk, his first album for Mute Records. Out today September 26th, the album is backed by a new single, “Song Of Los”, which is also out today on 12″ and download.

To celebrate the release, Apparat asked Mogwai to produce the first official remix of this new track but you can bet there will be plenty more remixes popping up in the weeks and months to come. Apparat (aka Sascha Ring) is not going to disappoint his fans with his new album, and he might well gain a few new followers too. The Devil’s Walk is possibly his most varied album to date, with some tracks hinting at a New Wave revival, others capturing moments of grandiose electronica and finally some tracks recreating the ambient soundscape Apparat is famous for. As a whole this record stretches into territories that the German producer had rarely explored before, while still managing to craft its own unique style of somber yet majestic music.

Apparat proves that he is an artist who knows how to connect with his audience and understands his own creative range. The Devil’s Walk, Apparat’s fourth album, reveals itself a bit more with every listen. More than a mere experiment, it’s a subtle work of contrasts and contradictions, standing somewhere between melancholy and solace.
