LANCELOT – WE CAN DANCE (Electro/Disco – Australia)

After posting a free track to his SoundCloud (“Spoken Word”) a couple of weeks ago, Lancelot has just shared a new track taken off his highly awaited debut EP We Can Dance, which drops on February 20th via Binary Label. Once again the Sydney-based artist is giving the song away absolutely for free, so don’t be shy, go ahead and download it here.

The remix comes courtesy of Frames, a young Sydney producer who won the recent Architecture in Helsinki “Escapee” remix comp. Frames adds a pinch of disco, chilled synths and a housier groove to the mix… Pretty brilliant!

Manchester-based three-piece The Whip is back with the video for new single “Movement”. Released on February 6th via Southern Fried Records, the EP includes remixes by The 2 Bears, In Flagranti and Sona Vabos.

On a side note, the band is getting ready for a six-date UK tour starting in two weeks. So if you live in Newcastle (Feb 24), Leeds (Feb 25), Birmingham (Feb 26), Brighton (Feb 27), London (Feb 28) or Manchester (Feb 29), go grab your tix!

MILANO SUN – ALREADY GONE (SynthPop – Sweden)

Milano Sun consists of Johan Jonasson, Love Sivik and David Axelsson, three friends who share an apartment in central Gothenburg, not far from their music studio. The idea to form a band was born one morning in early spring as the boys were basking in the sun of a Milanese park. They were traveling through Europe with two guitars and drums, in search for inspiration. Eventually, the trio wrote their entire upcoming debut album on the road, one song in each city.

Last December Milano Sun released their debut single “Already Gone” along with a stop-motion video starring actors Linda Molin and Ludwig Palmell. The song is a sunny synthpop number complete with 80s tinged synths, whistled hooks and smooth vocals.

ARCHITECURE IN HELSINKI + YACHT – DESERT ISLAND (Electro/Disco – Australia)

Australian indie pop five-piece Architecure in Helsinki have just released a digital only deluxe edition of their last album, Moment Bends, including remixes from the likes of Nicolas Jaar, Lo-Fi Fnk, Javelin, Yacht, Frames and Clock Opera.

To celebrate this release, AiH are currently streaming Yacht’s brand new remix of the album’s opening cut, “Desert Island”. Listen to it just below…

MIRROR PEOPLE – FEEL THE NEED (Disco – Portugal)

Already supported by Rory Phillips, Gloves, Shinichi Osawa, Treasure Fingers, The Magician, Justin Faust, VillA or Gigamesh, the new 12″ from Portuguese disco act Mirror People has garnered rave reviews across the board. Released via Discotexas, “Feel The Need” features diva vocals by Rowetta and the download bundle includes remixes from the likes of Moullinex, Munk, Social Disco Club and Severino.

Rui Maia, the ‘hands’ behind the Mirror People, is a Porto-born producer who is equally inspired by the sounds of Joy Division, David Bowie, Air and Stereolab. After collaborating with X-Wife on their debut record, where Rui played synthesizers and electronics, he decided to develop his DJ & studio production skills.

In 2010, influenced by Italians Do It Better and DFA, Rui formed his latest project – Mirror People. More disco-house oriented than his previous efforts, Mirror People has released EPs on labels such as Permanent Vacation, Brilliantine or Raw Cutz Records.

LANA DEL REY – VIDEO GAMES (Indie/Pop – US)

There’s been such an avalanche of hyped-up remixes of Lana Del Rey’s “Video Games” that everyone has probably grown a little tired of the song’s bare melody and icy vocals. From Balam Acab to Jamie Woon, from White Lies to Hannes Fischer, everyone and their brother has had a good crack at remixing “Video Games”. But while many of these reworkings might not be worth your time, a few of them definitely manage to take the original to the next level.

The two remixes you will find below come from Iranian duo Take It Easy Hospital and Scottish producer Lockah. They approach the song from very different angles and that’s what makes them so good. The first remix is a dark, brooding affair featuring layers of analogue synths, while the second lightens things up by adding a bouncy beat and chopped up vocals.

Over the past couple of years, Nashville-based retro electro duo Jensen Sportag have produced a pretty impressive body of work, including last year’s Pure Wet EP, which earned them rave reviews from The Guardian and The Fader amongst many others. HERMITUDE – SPEAK OF THE DEVIL (HipHop – Australia)

Aussie underground hip hop duo Hermitude formed in 2001 when Luke Dubs (Luke Dubber) and Elgusto (Angus Stuart) paired up with a shared love of beats and turntablism. The duo’s first EP was the vinyl-only Imaginary Friends, followed in 2003 by their debut album Alleys to Valleys.

Nine years later, with two more albums under their belt (Tales of the Drift in 2005 and Threads in 2008), Hermitude have become a bit of a household name down-under and they have a solid reputation for brilliant studio productions and vibrant live performances. To hype up the release of their fourth record, to be released next month, Dubs and Elgusto recently dropped a brand new single: the slamming “Speak of the Devil”, a summery jam that blends in elements of pop and electro.

5EYA – FLOAT EP (Electro/Club – Italy)

Florence-born London-based dance producer Daniele Pianigiani, better known as Seya (or 5eya), took his first steps on the English club scene as the DJ partner to fellow Italian expat (and former flatmate) Phonat. Now fully emancipated, Seya is set on making a name for himself with his own brand of bumping disco-infused house.

The young artist’s latest EP, Float, was released last November on La Bombe, including two brand new original tracks already supported by Radio 1 bigwigs like Kissy Sell Out and Malente and Turbo Recordings’ Matt Walsh. “Float” is a smooth electro number that slowly builds up into a funky as hell party starter. “Backlight” is more straightforward, with its funky bassline and catchy sample-based melody.
