Kiwi songstress Kimbra had a pretty great 2011, being featured on “Somebody That I Used To Know”, the Gotye song that has 46 million views on Youtube! She also won the New Zealand Critics’ Choice awards 2011 and an ARIA for Best Female Artist. On top of that Kimbra’s debut album Vows was released last summer down under and shot straight to #3 in her home country and #5 in Australia.

To kick off 2012 in high style the 21-year-old artist has just released her new single “Two Way Street” as well as a remix by Aussie minimal-house prodigy Beni, who gives the song an implacable pulsating beat to take the party right onto the dancefloor.

After the sweeping success of their debut release with Kitsuné “Happy House”, a refreshing cover of Siouxsie and the Banshees’ 1980 classic song, Belgian synthpop sensation Shindu return with a new slice of dancefloor-friendly electro for your enjoyment.

“All In My Fridge” will be released on January 20th via German dance label Kiez Beats and the EP will include no less than six remixes by the likes of Cosmonauts, Softwar, Pharao Black Magic, Sovnger, Kreap and Stubbs. On this first saturday of the new year, get ready to rock it 2012-style with Kaskade. The California-based DJ/producer/remixer (real name Ryan Raddon) released his latest album Fire & Ice in October to some pretty solid fanfare, debuting at #1 on the Billboard dance/electronic albums.

Kaskade’s brand new single “Turn it Down” is already getting remixed left and right, spawning some pretty awesome versions in the process. Atlanta’s own Le Castle Vania manages to turn it into a banger and take the original to the next level.

Over the past year or so Milan-born Paris-based producer/remixer Monsieur Adi (aka Adamo Balbus) has really managed to build a name for himself with his classy electro-house productions. The young artist has released a handful of very successful EPs and a few hyped-up remixes of Ellie Goulding, Visitor, Fallulah and Madonna, to name a few, and he is rumored to be working on his debut album at the moment.

Adi’s latest release, the Fire Fire Fire EP, came out last September via Technofavrik to much praise. Check out the original and a remix by Stay Ali just below.

This track is probably the best example of Monsieur Adi’s powerful clash of baroque and electro, expertly mixing soaring strings and dancefloor-friendly beats…

German-born France-based house producer Fred Falke is probably one of the best known producers amongst regular clubgoers and mainstream radio listeners. Over the past few years, he has churned out anthemic synth-laden remixes for the likes of Little Boots, Likke Li, Metronomy, Burns, Hot Chip, Florrie or Pnau, always demonstrating a particular ability to balance the energy of dance music with a strong pop sensibility.

Having released a few acclaimed singles and EPs along the years (some of them with long-time collaborator Alan Braxe), Falke finally rolled out his long-awaited debut LP, Part IV, a few days ago on December 7th via Kris Menace’s label Work It Baby. Consisting of 12 (mostly) instrumental tracks, this euphoric album contains more than a few of Falke’s previously released tunes (“808 PM at the Beach”, “Chicago”), as well as a few new songs, including the blissful eight-minute dance masterpiece “Aurora”…

This album sounds exactly like one would expect, showcasing Fred Falke’s signature sound, a subtle mix of electro-tinged arrangements, filtered synths and addictive melodies, kept in check by throbbing drums. He re-asserts the musicality of the 70s and 80s within the context of modern music, align the modern French sound with the musical heritage that informed it, to bring that sound to a young crowd.

Mikah Freeman, Vance Musgrove and Ross McGrath started The Aston Shuffle in 2005 in Canberra and their ascent has been nothing short of spectacular, especially in the last few years. Despite Ross McGrath’s departure in 2008, Freeman and Musgrove have kept the flame of dancefloor-friendly electro burning with their singles, remixes and long-awaited debut album, Seventeen Past Midnight, released last year.

Continue reading »]]> Based in Philadelphia, Icebird is the result of a collaboration between producer Rjd2 and singer-songwriter Aaron Livingston. The pair released their debut album The Abandoned Lullaby last October 11th on Rjd2′s own label Electrical Connections.

To hype up the release, they launched a remix competition of their second single off the album “Charmed Life”. Sponsored by Native Instruments and SoundCloud, the comp yielded some pretty cool remixes, including the two awesome renditions below.

The first remix was produced by young Moscow-based designer/musician/DJ Pavel Golovkin, better known on the Muscovite club scene as Pablos. He adds a touch of glitchy electronica, bouncy handclaps and a generous helping of cosmic synths to turn the song into a perfect after-party anthem.

German dance duo Digitalism is on fire! Six months after the release of their acclaimed album, I Love You Dude,  the pair set out for a massive North American tour last month and they are launching two remix EPs at the same time. Both releases support their über addictive single “Circles”, which seems to be an unlimited source of inspiration for remixers since we have a solid 5 remixes all in all. The guest list includes Moonlight Matters, Eric Prydz, Jeremy Olander, Dillon Francis, and to top it off Digitalism provide the last remix!

Continue reading »]]> NYC-based electronic act MNDR is the musical alliance of singer songwriter Amanda Warner and producer Peter Wade. Best known for their quirky pop jams and their chart-topping collaboration with Mark Ronson on “Bang Bang Bang”, the duo was commissioned at the beginning of the year to do a single for Green Label Sound.

The result is the über catchy single “Cut Me Out”, which was subsequently remixed by a slew of top-tiered DJs, including Discmann and Sixtraxx, Hervé, Kingdom and Drop The Lime. The version you will find below is Hervé’s clubby, synth-driven remix.
