LANCELOT – WE CAN DANCE (Electro/Disco – Australia)

After posting a free track to his SoundCloud (“Spoken Word”) a couple of weeks ago, Lancelot has just shared a new track taken off his highly awaited debut EP We Can Dance, which drops on February 20th via Binary Label. Once again the Sydney-based artist is giving the song away absolutely for free, so don’t be shy, go ahead and download it here.

The remix comes courtesy of Frames, a young Sydney producer who won the recent Architecture in Helsinki “Escapee” remix comp. Frames adds a pinch of disco, chilled synths and a housier groove to the mix… Pretty brilliant!

ARCHITECURE IN HELSINKI + YACHT – DESERT ISLAND (Electro/Disco – Australia)

Australian indie pop five-piece Architecure in Helsinki have just released a digital only deluxe edition of their last album, Moment Bends, including remixes from the likes of Nicolas Jaar, Lo-Fi Fnk, Javelin, Yacht, Frames and Clock Opera.

To celebrate this release, AiH are currently streaming Yacht’s brand new remix of the album’s opening cut, “Desert Island”. Listen to it just below…

Jonathan Boulet is a young musician from Sydney’s northwest suburbs, who released his self-titled debut album in 2009 via trendy Aussie label Modular. He recently resurfaced from the wilderness after a long pause to work on his second album, scheduled for release this year.

HERMITUDE – SPEAK OF THE DEVIL (HipHop – Australia)

Aussie underground hip hop duo Hermitude formed in 2001 when Luke Dubs (Luke Dubber) and Elgusto (Angus Stuart) paired up with a shared love of beats and turntablism. The duo’s first EP was the vinyl-only Imaginary Friends, followed in 2003 by their debut album Alleys to Valleys.

Nine years later, with two more albums under their belt (Tales of the Drift in 2005 and Threads in 2008), Hermitude have become a bit of a household name down-under and they have a solid reputation for brilliant studio productions and vibrant live performances. To hype up the release of their fourth record, to be released next month, Dubs and Elgusto recently dropped a brand new single: the slamming “Speak of the Devil”, a summery jam that blends in elements of pop and electro.

“Fall From Here” is the latest video to come out of the collaboration between Australian/South African synthpop outfit Clubfeet and fashion videographer Alex Goddard. Conceived as a video illustration of the songs from the band’s 2010 album Gold on Gold, the project has so far delivered four chapters: “Edge Of Extremes”, “Count Your Lovers”, “Broken Hearted” and “Last Words”.

ERIK OMEN – PAYPHONE (SynthPop/Chillwave – Australia)

Erik Omen (formerly Erik Omen In Atlantis) is the brainchild of Sydney natives Jeremy Hansen and Greg Mullins. Mining their vault of classic 60s and 70s slow jams, the two musicians seamlessly blend 1960s Californian surf culture, sprawling 1970s guitars and cosmic visions of the future.

For their sophomore release on Midnight Juggernauts imprint Siberia Records, Erik Omen have teamed up with Bridezilla’s Holiday Sidewinder who provides haunting vocals on the entrancingly smooth jam “Payphone”. The new limited-edition 12″ also includes the original track “Grade E” (previously cassette only) and blissed-out reworkings by Turkish Prison, Forces, Bell Towers, Cosmonaut and Tortoiseshell.

WORLD’S END PRESS – FAITHFUL (Synth/Club – Australia)

Australian four-piece World’s End Press is a straight-up dance-pop outfit, drawing inspiration from the Happy Mondays-era British scene and effortlessly combining smooth disco arrangements and synth-heavy melodies. Renowned for their wild live shows, they have long earned themselves a large fan base in Melbourne (their hometown) and all over Australia. The band has had a very busy 2011 touring the country multiple times as special guests of Cut Copy, Primal Scream, Little Red and Metronomy as well as appearing at countless festivals.

At the moment, WEP are hard at work on their debut LP, which should in all likelihood be out in early 2012. Until then, why not enjoy a killer remix of their 2010 single “Faithful” by Aussie producer G.L.O.V.E.S? definitely one of the highlights of the band’s last EP…

PHILOSOPHY OF SOUND – IT IS LIKE THAT (NuDisco/Electro – Australia)

What do you get when you combine a master’s degree in philosophy with a love of dance and electronic music production and a fascination with the latest forms of disco influenced sounds? Philosophy Of Sound – an electro nu-disco project spearheaded by Melbourne based producers Martin K and John Salmon, bringing you hot disco guitar licks, booty shaking bass and a selection of some of Melbourne’s best vocalists.

Martin is a philosopher turned music producer originally hailing from Poland, who after spending some time in his other project Koshowko decided to start a ’beyond-disco’ side project. John has an international background as a DJ and producer. Over the last few years both have been working in close collaboration with various electronic music labels and artists, which has led to many remixes and releases on several labels in both Australia and Europe.

“It Is Like That” is the duo’s debut single with Discotexas and it is part of a three release plan that will be unveiled in the following months. As of now, the single is already supported by The Magician, Social Disco Club, Tiago and Tronik Youth.
