MGMT, formerly named “The Management” (this name was already used by another artist so the band shortened it to “MGMT”), is an American musical duo based in Brooklyn, consisting of Ben Goldwasser and Andrew VanWyngarden.
Their debut record, Oracular Spectacular, was produced by Flaming Lips’ producer Dave Fridmann. It’s synthy and poppy but still quite elaborate and indie… A real feast for the senses!
NME said: “For all its musical philandering, unbridled excess and shrouds of irony, you’ll be hard-pressed to find a record with more musical depth and warmth all year than this one”.
