Now playing nonstop on my mp3 player is the insane song “Hummer”. It’s pulsating, it’s full of energy and it gives you a real kick. Foals are Yannis Philippakis (vocals and guitar), Jack Bevan (drums), Jimmy Smith (guitar), Edwin Congreave (keyboards) and Walter Gervers (bass). Based in Oxford, they are part of the new UK electroclash scene and their first LP, Antidotes (Transgressive Records, 2008), as well as their live gigs have been making the headlines of many music publications. Find their music on MySpace and see them live around the UK in October and around Europe in November.
“they take Franz Ferdinand’s ‘music to make girls dance’ credo to the max, using guitars, drums, voice, bass and keyboards to make a sort of manic, organic, polyrhythmic electronica” (The Guardian)
Visit the band on MySpace to get more info and buy their music on
