BLACK KIDS – PARTIE TRAUMATIC (Indie/Pop – US)

Born and raised in Florida, Black Kids is an indie pop band formed in 2006 by siblings Reggie and Ali  Youngblood (guitar, vocals and keys), joined by Owen Holmes on bass, Dawn Watley on keys and backing vocals and Kevin Snow on drums. The band’s debut EP, Wizard of Ahhhs, received favorable critical response in 2007 and was followed by their album, Partie Traumatic, which went straight to #5 on the UK Albums Chart in July 2008.

Rolling Stone called them one of ten “Artists to Watch” in 2008 and they were also included in the BBC Top 10 Sound of 2008 poll. Their debut spawned two singles, “I’m Not Gonna Teach Your Boyfriend How To Dance” and “Hurricane Jane”, which were both remixed by many a-class producers, including Brazil’s own The Twelves.
